Ive already posted in DIY but not had a response so Im trying here too :)

I've seen a 1940s semi come on the market (in an area where 1970s and new builds fill the market). Ever since I was little, I've always wanted a house with bay windows and this does. I never expected to get one in this area.
Its something of a doer upper but I think it has potential. Please, inspire me with your pics of your 1940s houses.
Or will it just be a money pit??

I don’t have a 40s house, but I’m in love with 30s/40s fireplaces. They’re so cozy. Always plenty in reclaim shops if you want to refit one.

I know. Its the fireplace potential and the bay windows that make me want to buy it but Im worried it will be a lot of work.

There's no reason why it should be a money pit. We lived in a 1930s house for four years, and it wasn't a money pit.

Not 1940s but I live in a 1920s house and it hasn’t been a money pit at all. We have spent a lot on it but we’ve lived here over 15 years and done jobs / rooms gradually as we could afford it. I have 5 bay windows and curtains do cost a lot but I do love them.

I’d recommend you get a good survey or if it is very rundown, you could take a builder with you to get a tough idea of what needs doing.
