Rugs under dining tables

We've got a new kitchen table that is smaller. It is great to have more space but it looks a bit lost in a sea of wooden floor. A rug would finish off the space nicely. What size works best for under a table? Does it have to be very big to accommodate the chairs if they are pulled out?

No I have one its about 2 feet larger all round than the table and looks great. Depends how big your room is really. If it can take a bigger rug then great.

Get a washable one

Do you have trouble getting the back legs caught on the edges of the rug when tucking in?

I have one and it looks great. It's large enough for the chairs to not cross over onto the floor. I bought it from Ruggable and it was expensive but it goes in the wash when it's dirty. I love it!
