Hello everyone,

I have been trying to find a new office chair, I need a comfy chair (that stays comfy after a couple of months use) and back support.

I have been searching for months but the reviews always fall flat.

Does anyone know of a good chair under £100?

Thank you

Can you take a chair from your workplace? We bought a fancy new chair but I swapped it for a basic chair from the workplace, found this is much better on my body even though it doesn't look pretty

Hi, no I’m currently a stay at home mum, I’m a digital artist though so I need a comfortable chair as I can be sat there for hours in the evenings but my budget is tight.

The office chairs in our workplace cost £800 each to buy them personally so I doubt you'd get a good one for under £100.

Work will supply us with a chair, desk, monitor etc though, for free. We have to return them if we leave.

Mine is double your budget but very comfortable, from Costco.

@LaWench I can’t go over budget unfortunately but thank you.

@Justkeeppedaling I’m a stay at home mum, I don’t need an amazing chair but I need one that offers some comfort/support when I need to work on my pc.

There are quite a few websites that resell refurbished office stock for a lot less than full price.

LaWench · 20/05/2022 09:25

In that case, I'd try FB marketplace or eBay for second hand stock.

I’ve got this from ikea. Back support isn’t the best (probably as you’d expect for £55) but it is really comfy to sit on

The IKEA flintan is also a contender, DH has this and loves it.

Justkeeppedaling · 20/05/2022 17:48

There are lots of places that sell second hand office furniture. I'd check them out if I were you.
Or IKEA.
But "buy cheap, buy twice"!

Hi I have an office chair, plum colour, swivel and ergonomic which I have used for over one year now, it's really great. I think it was round £80 - let me try to find it.

DomusAurea · 20/05/2022 20:03

Found it - in blue is £84 (half price) www.officefurnitureonline.co.uk/skye-fabric-swivel-chair-supplied-with-castors-and-glides.html

If you can scrape another £20 the ikea langjfall is good and looks nice. You could add arms later if needed.
I also see various ones on Fb marketplace.

MyneighbourisTotoro · 21/05/2022 09:22

Thank you for all the suggestions everyone, I’ve been looking through ikea, I think I need to wait to get some extra cash together as I really need one with a head rest/high back. @Justkeeppedaling unfortunately I just don’t have the finances to invest in a decent chair, we live off one wage and carers allowance so all our finances go on bills and rent. Very much a Sam Vimes situation for us!

Have a look at reyooz, they have lots of chairs and stock changes daily.

My chair was about £40 from Viking at the start of lockdown. It has a mesh back, it’s comfy and still going strong.
