Looking to get new carpets laid - looking for 80%\20% mix - what should I be expecting to pay for food quality wool carpet - including the fitting? No idea what is normal to pay! Thx x

Noone can answer your question as it’s too vague.

We’ve just paid £5000 including fitting of £480 for 3 rooms totalling 65m2 plus 2 stair cases. Including mid quality carpet and high quality underlay.

You can cost all but the fitting on websites like Tapi and SCS.

Go to a carpet shop and find out. A quick Google suggests between £25-50 per sqm for wool mix carpet, but that will be pus underlay and fitting. And it depends how big your house is, whether you have carpeted stairs etc.

Sorry for my badly worded question - I should have said per sq metre including underlay and fitting!!

We have just paid £400 for a room, about 10 square metres, including underlay, door bar and fitting, but not grippers, and also including removal of the old carpet. I thought this was really good value and the carpet looks great. The fitting was £65 of that.

Ours was high quality underlay and mid quality carpet, I’d say - not pure wool as it’s a child’s bedroom.

I might suggest to not go for wool. Our wool carpets were wrecked by moths within six months. Same for our neighbours and friends. Find out if moths are prevalent in your area before you buy.
