Double curtains

I want two layers of eyelet curtains, blackout underneath then floaty voiles on top. Something like the attached picture but a different colour scheme and nothing between the blackout curtain and the window.

Is there any reason why I shouldn't buy a separate blackout curtain and voile and just thread them both onto the same pole? Will they hang differently or look weird compared to if I buy the ones that are joined together at the top and sold as one set of curtains?

It seems I'd have more choice and save money if I buy separately so I'm just wondering if there's some reason I haven't thought of why that'd be a bad idea.

My Mam has two sets of curtains like this but they are on different tracks so you can have one set closed and the other open.

I've never seen ones joined together but I don't see why you couldn't have them on the same pole. Can you get eyelet voiles though?

I think it would work, but only if the distance between the eyelets is the same in both pairs.
I've never used eyelet curtains so don't know whether the gap is standard.

Oh yes I didn't think to check the distance between the eyelets. This is exactly why I needed to start this thread Grin

If they’re on the same pole how could you have the voile closed and the curtain open? I think you need two poles, no?

Also blackout curtains won’t blackout totally if they’re eyelet, because of the wave at the top. You want pencil pleat on a track really to stop light bleeding in at the top.

Not quite the answer to your question but IKEA do a double curtain bracket.
