Hi I'd really appreciate it if anyone can help me.
I have UPVC windows that are surrounded by sealant of some kind that has come away completely in areas or just looks horrible. I live in a new-build and it's everywhere.
I want the window sill repainted and some old sealant removed.
I don't really want the sealant replaced as it's been a nightmare but what would I do instead?
If I do have the sealant replaced then how do I find someone good and trustworthy who can do both the painting and the sealant to a high standard? Or, should I get it repainted and then employ a separate sealant person?
This job stresses me out as I've had the sealant replaced a few times and it was either done so badly that I had to remove it (it looked like wiggly toothpaste) or it went all weird and brittle in places.
I have used people from Checkatrade and they had good reviews so I don't know how genuine the reviews are now.
I'd usually have a go myself but I can't be home much, or while the job's done, as I'm looking after someone.
I'd have to give the tradesman my keys though I'm not sure if that's a good idea. Has anyone done that with someone they've just met?
It would be so lovely to get this job done and to not have to worry about it and if it went well I'd have other jobs to give them.
Can anyone point me in the direction of what sort of tradesman I should look for and if anyone can recommend someone in the South East London area that'd be great.
