Washing Sofa cushion covers

Anyone got a sofa with scatter back cushions that don’t have a zip?!
Mine need a wash because with kids they need cleaning but no zip to take
Them off to wash! Could I just put the whole thing in the machine or will that ruin them? Don’t know why they design these things with no zip 😫

I have a soft furnishings company and never understand the lack of zips either. I personally wouldn’t put in the wash, if the inner doesn’t completely dry out it will get mouldy- besides that it can clump up and affect the overall appearance of the cushion. Sometimes the inner isn’t in a casing either. My suggestion would be to speak to either a upholstery cleaner locally or see if a local seamstress would be willing to add zips onto the covers.
