Bought a bargain second hand ikea day bed for the spare room- it's just what I've been looking for. Just double checked the length of it- 207cm

Why did I just presume it would fit!!

Who needs to open the door anyway?!

It could go the other way but will cover the only plug socket in the room Hmm

Are you sure it's that long? That's over 7ft.

ApolloandDaphne · 08/04/2022 13:35

Why does it matter if it goes over the plug socket? Put in an extension lead that comes out under it. I have that in lots of my rooms where the plug is behind furniture.

Yeah I think someone's measurements are wrong

picklemewalnuts · 08/04/2022 13:38

The door will open onto it, but that's not a problem. The door will only open to 90degrees, but that's enough isn't it?

Haus1234 · 08/04/2022 13:40

As @ApolloandDaphne says, just get an extension cable, problem sorted.

Clarabellawilliamson · 08/04/2022 13:45

207cm is just under 6 foot 10. I'm sure it's right. I think we might get away with it and only open the door 90degrees. I'm doing a mock up with a big ruler and it's not ideal but might work.

We can run extension cables off, but the sockets are mounted on the skirting boards so stick out really far- can't push furniture flush to the wall.

Yes I know, the whole house needs rewiring!

Which one is it? We've had three different daybeds from IKEA over the years and they've all been 200cm. Daft question but you've not gone by package size have you? The boxes are always a few cm bigger.

It's the Flekke- I'm going by the dimensions on the website

The mattress is 200cm so a bit each end for the frame sounds about right

I feel your pain. I once ordered a cabinet - worked out it would fit in the space but it was in an alcove that had a frame around it and it wouldn't fit through the frame. Repeated the mistake a couple of years later when buying a sofa - it would fit the space perfectly but wouldn't go through the door...........................

Just slice a bit off...I know someone who did that with a TV unit :-D
