Flooring for bathroom with floor boards?

I'm planning a bathroom renovation. The room has solid wood floorboards that are currently covered with fairly cheap Lino. What are my options for updating and smartening it up? It's not really an option to remove the boards.

Underlay and quickstep waterproof laminate. They are boards and they come in lots if wood effect. Look really good and very good quality.

Lvt such as amtico or karndean. Lots of designs and work well over floorboards in a bathroom.

Waterproof laminate

Luxury vinyl tiles

Sheet vinyl - worth a look, there’s lots of stylish designs now and it’s cheap to buy and fit. Very practical in a bathroom.

Is it not possible to tile?

I've laid the adhesive vinyl tiles before and been really pleased with their durability in bathroom and kitchen. I put down 5mm hardboard first to have clean smooth surface. Fairly cheap solution that looked neat and smart. Easy to clean, could replace any that fit damaged and felt nice under bare feet.

Also I actually found them really fun to lay in the first place. like an adult sticker book!

I had the same conundrum. I painted the boards (F&B Strong White Floor Paint), but they weren't in great condition and looked scruffy quite quickly (and not in a good 'shabby chic' way - more in a 'looks crap' way). I wondered about tile-effect Amtico, but ended up going for a decent vinyl (which I was going to buy over my dead body) that looks very similar and cost 1/10 of the price of Amtico. It has been much admired, and I don't get splinters in my feet any more.

We have floorboards in our bathroom, and half panelling, which have all been done with darkish yacht varnish. It has sat there for over 20 years, still glossy, no scratches. I think it looks nice with the cream walls.

We did have floor boards honestly I find it impractical

Our fitters put a latex levelling compound on then they tiled the floor. It’s totally sealed now and no risk of rot. Or slippyness.

Just board and tile? All upstairs bathrooms and most downstairs will have floorboards, so you aren’t dealing with a particularly odd situation.
