Why do you need new radiators?

LardyDee · 31/03/2022 22:42

Impossible to say without more information.

You can have a new boiler with the radiators you have (as long as they aren’t ancient)
We had a new boiler put in - less than a day & not much mess

annabannan · 31/03/2022 22:44

Most are old and rusty in places and need a power flush too. System and rads are about 25+ years old.

Our boiler was also replaced in 1 day although the external brickwork was done the next day where the new flue was put in. No new radiators required

annabannan · 31/03/2022 22:46

It's the replacement of the rads that's causing me more anxiety!

I had new radiators through the whole house and a new boiler- the old boiler was at least 40 yrs old so had a combi and six radiators fitted. Cost £3000- in 2017 - plumber plus 2 apprentices worked for 2 full days - by the end of the 2nd day we had hot water and heating and he did the morning of 3rd day tidying up. Got radiators that matched the old ones so no redecorating needed. No great mess either - DH and DS were at work/school while the work was done so I was a bit cold and had no hot water for a day. Water was off periodically as well so I didn't drink much as no flush for loo- that was only for a couple of hours at a time and they made sure it was back on overnight and when they went out for lunch. In the end, much less disruption and mess than I thought it would be Smile

Ahh thanks that's good to hear? Just hope the plumber I choose can do it quickly too and with minimal disruption 🤞

Although it's a good opportunity to have extra radiators or change the location of existing ones. Just saying.
