Picture shelf above bed? Two questions....

  1. Have seen some lovely design ideas for picture shelves above beds. I’m thinking this should be safe as well as the shelf is really well secured?
  1. How long should the shelf be? In the picture in my head, it’s just a little longer than the width of the bed or at least the same as the width of the bed, but I’ve found a nice shelf that is quite a bit shorter than this - would this look okay? TIA.

Gentle bump. And update - am thinking that I’ll go for a shorter (than bed width) shelf, so self will be 100cm (places in the centre, of course). Thoughts, please? 🤞🏼

I was all over Pinterest and Etsy last night looking at this also.

I was originally thinking two smaller shelves, one higher than the other and overlapping in the centre of the bed, but I also eventually decided on roughly 100cm over my 130cm bed.

If that helps!

Thanks @getlamped - love a bit of Pinterest/Etsy inspo! Good luck with you shelf. I think I’ll go with the 100cm one too!

Told you a big fib @MadameSapphire

Was measuring something else today and realised 130cm is quite small for a bed! My bed is actually 155cm and so I'm going for 120cm I think. Don't know where I got 130 bed from.

I've bought three prints for the shelf, but no actual shelf yet.
