Hello, I'm looking for ideas on more stylish lighting for my living room. There are two ceiling lights and I want to replace them with something, possibly flush lights but I'm not sure exactly what I want. I don't know whether certain light fittings might look odd as a pair.

Has anyone else got two ceiling lights in their living room and what fittings did you use?

I've attached photos of the current lights. The room decor is mushroom/ browns/ natural colours.

Whar about some more ornate chandeliers? Those ones seem quite plain to me.
I actually got rid of our ceiling lights and have had wall lights fitted instead as the light they give out is more relaxing.

Thanks, I don't think the room is big enough for ornate chandeliers. I'm the sort of person who can't put together style ideas in my head, I have no sense of how things could look Blush. I've found these which are even more plain. I was thinking along the same lines as you for a softer light, although I don't want to have to rewire for wall lights.

Ocean Lighting is good for buying online. Huge choice.

I have 2 ceiling lights in our lounge, we have these which are quite big and make a statement but you can adjust them in terms of length, we have them fairly flush (due to v v tall dh)

In a living room the ceiling lights should rarely be used imo (just for ironing!!)

You want a mixture of lamps with warm colour bulb so you have different layers of light. And maybe some fairy lights around the edges.

@anoldcharter thanks, it's useful to see what other people have!

The lights are dimmable and I never iron BlushGrin I do have some lamps as well to vary the lighting.

Off the wall a bit, but if you have natural colours and want to make a statement, how about something like these from IKEA?

Thanks, those are larger than I'd considered but worth a look!

I saw some I liked in John Lewis but they were out of shock.

I found them cheaper at a company called Castlegate lights. The ones I bought were Dar avari, but there’s loads of choice.

They delivered very quickly and efficiently.

And I promise I have no affiliation with them Smile

Thanks, another option Grin
