Hi,
I have googled this question to death but can't seem to find an answer. We are just finishing renovation and going for Ikea PAX wardrobes with sliding doors in two bedrooms. We are not going the full fitted look other than putting a strip of carcass down one edge in each room so can have skirting run up to it and not foul the sliding doors. We are not building up to ceiling or anything. There is no skirting where wardrobes are going and walls are dead flat and floors pretty much flat as well.
Would people put them in and fix to wall and then carpet up to them or carpet first and put wardrobes in after ? We could leave gripper rod off at back as guess weight of wardrobe will keep it anchored although bit worried of carpet stretching and settling throwing the wardrobes out a bit.
Also looking at pictures of the PAX there doesn't seem to be much in way of space under the sliding doors if carpeted after - not as much as when using hinged the hinged doors. Has anyone carpeted after with PAX and sliding doors ? Dreading putting them in and then doors catching on carpet.
Any advice greatly appreciated,
Lawrence
