Hi all,

I'm looking to redecorate our lounge. I've seen this wallpaper which I'd love for a feature wall.

The rest of the walls will be light grey paint. We'll have grey carpet, grey corner sofa and a teal scandi sofa the opposite end of the room to the window. We have IKEA kallax with a few teal inserts.

I'm really struggling for curtains. The windows are massive so need 90x90 curtains (and wider if possible).

Please help.

Just to add - I have a real phobia of velvet / velour and can't touch anything like that! 😳

hate to say it, but grey and feature walls are both on the way out & will look dated v quickly.

look at something like these could be good, and you can add some orange / terracotta colours in elsewhere.

Thanks Parietal. I'm not too bothered about what's in fashion, just what I like. Moved in 8 years ago and been living with beige / gold and just desperate to put my own stamp on it.

I like those curtains, just not sure I want to introduce another colour, certainly something to bear in mind though.

Are you any good with sewing? Got a machine?
So, if you buy teal it’ll form a massive block of your accent colour and create a dark prominent block
I’d go g for some basic grey off the peg curtains , then find some decorative tape or ribbon and stitch across the header to just lift them with that accent colour again. Depends how much of sewer you are? I’ve done this with same fabric as I’ve used for cushions or throws etc just to tie things together- cut strips, joined, hemmed then attached. Used a small piece of expensive fabric to lift some plain basic curtains.
It’s also good as if you want to change your accent colour, unpick decorative header and replace

I'm not bad with a sewing machine. Hadn't thought of adapting curtains - food for thought thanks!

That's a lot of dark light absorbing colour you've got there. I'd go for a wide strip of orange or mustard uh ellie if you are adapting plain curtains or a pattern that has some brights in it. Sorry I don't know how to add a link but you could go mid century (your sofa style is that) or Maximilian with the chintz.

Ignore the 'uh ellie'!

And maximalist! Jeez!
