Jute rug and cats? Should I risk it?

Found a beautiful jute rug on Etsy but have two boisterous cats ... is it a dead cert that they'll shred it to pieces or is there a small chance I could get away with it? Don't mind a few snags etc as I'm into the 'rustic' look anyway but if it's going to end up as one long thread like a cobweb round my house I'll have to forget it!

I decided to risk it after eyeing up my jute rug from Next for ages...a couple of months in and I'm pleased to report - so far so good. Likely depends on what particular brand of arsehole your cat is though - I've stocked up on white vinegar in case of other accidents... Good luck if you decide to go for it!

If you buy it expecting it to be used as a scratching rug, and tell them that this is their new scratching rug, they won't scratch it. So buy it for them, not for you.
