Should I remove fitted wardrobes?

I'm thinking of removing the fitted wardrobes to create a better layout. I will lose a lot of storage but with freestanding furniture I'll be able to get a better layout. The door and drawer fronts need replacing anyway, they are damaged with poorly fitting hinges.

Any thoughts and ideas much appreciated. 🙂

I'd just remove the ones over the bed for now.

I agree the over bed section needs to go.

With the other section, it's probably not easy to source the right size doors and drawer fronts so you're looking at getting them made by a joiner which will be expensive.

So I think you're looking at getting rid of it all.

The over bed ones definitely need to go, I've bumped my head a lot already. Luckily my daughter is small enough at the moment to sit on her bed without issue.
The over bed ones are almost built into the side ones though, which makes me think the whole lot needs to go. The drawers are so stiff and rigid, I've put the top two on runners which helps a little.
I wonder if I would regret getting rid of the whole thing. The wall with the clock on is a chimney, the wardrobe next to it is extra deep as it goes over the stairs, it goes twice as far back as the drawers.

I would probably replace the wardrobe and drawer section with full height storage rather than the gap with the mirror. That should be enough for all clothing, and at the other side you can add some freestanding storage next to the bed.
