What are everyone's views o mixed carpets?

We have a grey carpet on our stairs and landing. We originally had beautiful floorboards in all 3 bedrooms, but carpeted the third bedroom 3 years ago as it was due to be a nursery. We bought a woolen browny neutral offcut.

We have another baby on the way so our son is moving into the "spare" bedroom. We think it's best to carpet, as beautiful as the floorboards are, they are old and a bit splintery for toddlers sliding about on knees etc.

My concern is that we already have 2 carpets going on upstairs now, do we need to match the last 2 bedrooms as close as possible to the carpet in the nursery? Ideally we would like to buy offcuts again as it saved us so much money, but don't think we can find enough to do the 2 rooms. Shall we just buy new for the last 2 rooms and try to match, or accept that they're going to be different anyway so may as well go completely different? Is it acceptable to have 4 different carpets!? I don't think so, but dh thinks it's fine!
