If you have a Vimle Ikea or Xander DFS Sofa, come forth!

Looking at both of these. Ikea is cheaper (and DD works for them so an extra 15% discount), but I also like the Xander.

Looking at 2 x 2 seater sofas, one of which needs to be a bed, and armchair and a footstool.

How hard wearing is the Vimle? Only DH and I and a spoiled hound so no heavy use, sofa bed in occasional Christmas use, but not planning on replacing for some time and the idea of washable covers appeals to me. I dont want needy furniture that I have to plump every day, though admittedly the anger management side of that is appealing.

Thanks all.

I have a three year old Vilme.
A two seater sofa bed and a three seater sofa.
Love it and am so glad we went for it. The cushions wash a treat and are easy to remove. They are very comfy and the back is the right height.
Cushions don't sag and keep their shape well.
I also like the fact that you can buy new covers for it which is much cheaper than replacing the whole sofa.

Meant to say the footstool is huge and we ended up putting it in the attic out the way!

@Tretchikoff you've told me exactly what I want to hear. I know covers pop up in bargain corner from time to time so I can also get DD to stalk that for me when she's in work.

How have you found the bed? It's only occasional use so not hugely important.

We had a vimle and I made the mistake of leaning on the arm rest to adjust my position and the arm rest broke (I weighed around 11 stone at the time so a normal adult weight). It's very poorly made. Waste of money IMO

Oh thats worrying, I'm not exactly known for being gentle... I think I'll go look at the display one and see how thats faring. Was yours the wide or standard arm?

@MrPenguinsPoppers not sure. It was the corner chaise version of the vimle

We replaced our 8 year old Karlstad with a couple of Vimles about 3 years ago. They’ve been nowhere near as good. Two years ago we bought new covers because the grey ones weren’t great and the arms were hanging off one of the sofas. Ikea replaced the arms with no quibbles (great!) but the new set of covers (navy) are long a bit faded.

Thanks both. Its the grey I was looking at as well @JohnandMary

I was looking at the wider arm version so I wonder if thats a bit more robust. Still worrying. Might go a run to DFS over the weekend and have a good look at the Xander, they have a sale on 😂
