Redecorating and need to buy new furniture.Had assumed that we would get an oak dining table etc but having looked around am now thinking maybe all the Ecrol is coming back into fashion. What does the MN hive mind think? What about industrial type dining tables are those still in fashion?

Dark, vintage

Go for the Ercol or vintage. The industrial look won't stay in fashion.

You can pick up G-plan etc on sites like Freecycle

Can I ask what your house is like, Ie what period and your general decor/style?

tygh787 · 17/02/2022 19:02

I have a modern house...classic townhouse.....currently it's very open plan with white walls as those houses dont have any doors so wont suit say dark colour in just one room wont work. our kitchen surfaces are pretty dark so not sure whether all dark works. was thinking maybe a black and white with some brown theme rather than all dark or something akin to the japandi trend

I like both but an extendable table can be useful.

Get vintage Ercol, it’s a much more high end look to mix ages of furniture rather than have all new

If you're gonna go Ercol, I'd go vintage and look on eBay etc.

I concur.

But would everyone recommend dark or light ercol?

What are your floors? Generally that will impact on the colour of the furniture. I’d say dark though (although a lot of Ercol is mid toned)

tygh787 · 17/02/2022 21:57

my floors are light wood but my kitchen tops and windowsills are dark wood - and that is where say the table would go. i have been losing my sleep over this - silly but true
