Where to hang pictures

I usually know exactly where I want pictures to go but am struggling in our living room.

One wall has the door/doorframe (door opens into the room) a little space and then sofa and then work desk, computer.

The sofa isn’t in the middle of the wall as there wouldn’t be space.

Without the door, and assuming the sofa was central to the wall I’d want my picture near the middle, what do you do when sofa is offset from centre?

Centre to the object you want it 'related' to - ie the sofa. I have a lot of paintings and this works - looks less 'odd' even if off centre. If you want to test it before you start hammering holes, try some wrapping / newspaper and masking tape.

Thank you! I started to try and map out what centre of the wall would be like but I think you are right - related to the sofa is going to work much better. Good thinking re masking tape and paper - will definitely do this!
