Can anyone recommend a good nursing/ rocking chair? It's for a friend who lives in the UK so ideally easy to deliver there. They like a leather armchair type design but the main criteria is: Comfy!

Ideally less than £400 including postage.

TIA!

We use the ikea strandmon leather look one. It’s comfy for feeding and huge seat so fits larger Toddler on lap to read at bedtime later on. It’s around £200-250 mark

This looks really nice and the colour is perfect. However, she's really keen on a rocking chair. I'm struggling to find any that are as good looking as this.

Ah ok.
Only thing I would say, is a rocking chair would be a bit dangerous once baby and child walking and crawling as they could get hands trapped in rocker part or underneath

Or maybe that’s just mine that finds chaos everywhere!

Ha, very good point. It's her first so she probably hadn't considered that.

Is the baby born already? My advice would be to wait and then try before you buy. I really wants a rocking chair I'd seen in mothercare. On reflection it wouldn't have worked and an arm chair we already had was perfect. I also had to keep my baby still after a feed so he didn't puke. Rocking wouldn't have worked and could have been hard to get up from when trying to get baby to sleep sleathily after a feed.

I have this one and love it, it was great when DD was a baby and we still use it now for bedtime stories (she sits in my lap). The rocking motion is nice, footstool a good option when I feel like it, and the pockets are so useful.

I found a small sofa (1.5 seat chair) much better than a rocking chair because the baby / toddler can sit beside you for a story so you get much more longevity out of it.

Never had one. Really wanted one every time but never had room- and every time grateful we didn't go for one for all the against reasons above, especially the safety! Little people and moving parts don't mix, also is lovely to have room for a snuggle at story time when they're a bit bigger. We have the Strandmon too in dogtooth with a footstool and it is soooo comfortable and looks great, would have been perfect for feeding. You can get pocket things that don't look ridiculous.

(Also, they are so ugly)

We have the Strandmon too, it's so comfy - you want something you can sleep in when they're a toddler! I used the footstool when breastfeeding and now it gets used without, every night for bedtime story and cuddles.

Definitely wouldn't have a rocking chair, the baby will become a climbing toddler.

I very nearly spent hundreds of pounds on a nursing chair before my 4 month old daughter was born. I just remembered about that the other day and could only think how glad I was that I hadn't bothered as I wouldn't have ended up using it and it would have been a massive waste of money. I nurse wherever I happen to be (in bed, on the sofa, in the kitchen, back seat of the car etc) and would never have ended up taking her to a special nursing chair.
