We're planning to decorate DD's room over half term and I'm looking for some tips from experience.

  1. what is the best paint for a child who is in no way careful and if I blink they'll be something that needs scrubbing off?
  1. She wants a dark green colour (big Slytherin fan) and I am toying with 1 feature wall or half and half - the bottom dark green and the top a pale or white colour any opinions from experience with that one?

Thanks

regular dulux paint is probably fine

dark green will be a very difficult colour long-term or if you ever want to paint over it, and feature walls are v dated. I'd do pale/mid green with dark green & silver accessories to get the slytherin colours in. Half&half can be good too but don't go too dark or it will look like a Victorian prison.

Thank you.
I don't suppose you have a recommendation for shades. I'm notoriously bad at colour work

from dulux, pick a dark green that looks like the right colour for syltherin, then go 2 shades paler on the same colour card. get a tester pot of the dark version to do shelves / accessories if you want.

Dulux easycare is bombproof, fully wipeable, lasts for years. I wouldn't use anything else now. If you get the dulux app, when you pick your shade of dark green, it will suggest some other colours to coordinate with it.

Dulux paint is fine. But a tester pot is a good idea.

You can buy big Slytherin wall stickers that come off easily once she outgrows HP.

Thank you. I'll have a look at the app and see what colour she likes

I just let my DS do a dark green in his room and it looks fab. It is Johnstone paint, forest green I think. That’s the corner of his room there

I’d paint it white and buy HP accessories and wall stickers!
