120cm wide dining table- too wide?

We’re looking at a new rectangular dining room table. The table we like comes in 250 cm long and either 90 or 120 cm wide. We currently have a 90cm wide table. Would 120cm feel too wide and would we be sitting too far apart?

Ours is 120 cm wide, once serving dishes are in the middle it’s a comfortable distance for two people to sit opposite each other.

The only other consideration is if there is plenty of room to walk around the table?

Not too wide, it's perfect for big family occasions when you want to fit two people on the end.

We use a 120 x 240 piece of plywood, balanced on our smaller dining table (and a half-moon side table) for celebration dinners. The amount of space in the centre is fabulous for all the serving dishes.

If you have sufficient room I would recommend the larger table.

Going against the grain our table is 100cm wide and I think it's too wide! But I have young children so am constantly reaching across. I'd rather have 90cm

It depends entirely on the proportion of the room it is in. I like a larger table but only if it won't be cramped.

Really depends on the size of the room.

Ours is 120. Feels the perfect size for a table but is slightly too big for the room (bought 11 years ago, moved a few times since then. Low down the priority list for replacing though. In fact bottom probably)

Definitely depends on the size of your room. Ours is 140cm square table, 2 seats per side and I love it. It’s very sociable and all food fits easily in the middle. No problem with helping dc eat when they were little as we sat next to them.

We use it for everything, jigsaws, games, homework, sewing..

Really depends on the room. Remember it isn't just if it will fit, but if there is room for people to be sitting in chairs on either side and then for someone to be able to get past.

We've just bought a 120 x 300 table and it's great. It's an oval though so the middle is 120 but the ends are a bit less. I love it. It closes down to 120 x 280 and they call it an ellipse shape.

It's good to have a distance between guests for Covid!

90 is too narrow for entertaining and 120 too wide in my opinion for everyday especially with kids. That has been my experience hence having both options depending on situation. I wouldnt buy either option.

Sorry. 120 x 180 is the closed down size
