Panelled wall with wall shelf?

We're looking to add panelling to one wall in our lounge, but also need to add some shelving as there's none in the room. Would this look weird? I can't find any photos of shelves over panelled walls.

It would definitely look weird, imho too. We have a panelled wall in our snug and the only things we felt looked ok hanging on it were three pieces of art.....and tbh even then I hesitated 🙄

No that will look awful. Could you not put the shelving on another wall?

No other walls for shelves as it's a lot of big windows....will have to ditch the idea of panelling

I loathe the panel look. I just dont see the appeal.
