Bunk bed - desk or bed on bottom?

My 7 year old really wants a bunk bed

We were thinking of getting one with a little sofa and desk at the bottom, as opposed to a bed. But that would mean she'd always have to sleep on the top level,

Beds on both levels would be handy for sleepovers, but maybe they'd both want to sleep on the same level anyway and prefer to have a mattress on the floor

Which option would you go for?

Two beds
She's only 7 so I can't imagine she's getting enough homework to warrant a desk?
Pretty sure the bed will be in demand for sleepovers though!

We always made a game out of who was having the top and who was having the bottom when she had a friend to stay.
(I used to make up quizzes etc and the winner got to chooseGrin).

DD has one that has a desk and a futon underneath where the futon fold out in to a single bed. Best of both.

Dd is 10 and has a bunk bed. She did have a high sleeper but never used the desk whereas with the bed she can sit and play on one and sleep on the other. Also means she can have sleepovers.

Depends on what space you need really.

A bottom bunk can be wasted space. Not really space to play due to lack of head room, can end up S a dumping space.

We have a high sleeper in our elder DDs room with a desk and book case underneath, and it creates a lit of extra space in her small room.

Bunk bed with a desk and a single futon below?

We had a high sleeper and wardrobe/desk underneath. It's only good for a few years. The wardrobe and desk being too small to be of practical use after the age of around 10 in our case. I'd go for bunk beds.

if you have high ceilings, go for proper bunk beds.

my DD was desperate for bunks at at 7 so I gave in & got one, but the ceilings are pretty low and now at 10 she finds the top bunk is too close to the ceiling. so I'm going to have to get rid of them & get a regular bed.

Depends on the size of the room. If it's a decent sized room, get the extra bed. If it's a box room, have the desk (useful for more than just homework)
