Modernising - window blinds?

We're working on modernising our 1980s home, when we moved in, there were awful metal blinds that reminded me of what you might find in an office, on most of the windows. Ive taken them down but now Im not sure what is best to put back up, its very exposed without anything up so it needs something.
The house would be too dark for shutters, what would you recommend to keep it bright but still modern? Wide slat, white faux wood ones seem to be popular but I am not very good at knowing what is modern?! (I understand the real wood ones can warp in sun or moisture in bathrooms).

I have a similar issue in my house, not 1980s, 1930s instead but similar problem. I think I’m going to go for wooden Venetian blinds in a light wood. Then I can totally close then, twist them open or pull them up totally depending on what the light is like

I do like the light wood colour but we have a lot of oak in our downstairs (floor, massive table!) so thought it might be too much. Will Venetian blinds give a modern look? What are opinions on tapes that can be added running down each edge?

I really like the day and night roller blinds, they look modern, minimalist and are very versatile. You can always then dress the window with a Roman blind or curtains.

Day and night blinds could be a great option because you can adjust how much light comes in and how much privacy you have in the room. You can also get sheer roller blinds so you don't lose your view and get light coming in!

We got these Grip Fit blinds recently and they're amazing - they don't damage the walls and you don't need any tools like drills or anything, they clip in place!
