Carpet - is quote expensive?!

Or am I naive?

We've had Tapi Carpets measure up for new flooring. Laminate in hallway, vinyl in one bathroom and carpet for lounge, stairs, landing and 4 bedrooms. So most of house but not quite all. Standard semi, house is 7 yrs old and we're replacing the stuff that came with the house and was fitted in a hurry when the build overran. Have gone for mid-range neutral stuff throughout, twist carpet in a beigey sort of shade - one eye on future moves.

Quote including labour for fitting and take-up/removal of old stuff is £5.5k. Includes underlay, door join thingies but using existing grippers. This is apparently with the carpet being 50% off and a further discount on the underlay as we're purchasing together. Feels expensive to me but have literally never bought carpet before. All advice welcome...

I'd say it's about right , we had a house carpeted and Floored and it was about this amount . £3.5 for carpets and £1.2 for karndean downstairs .

Thanks - I may have to invest in more smelling salts to bring me round then haha. Mercifully payment can be spread over 4 yrs interest free!

That’s expensive to me but then it depends on the quality of the carpet etc etc. I always visit local carpet shops and choose remnants and get those fitted - lots of shops have room sized remnants and that makes it a lot cheaper. We got our lounge done with very good quality carpet we found as a remnant for about £350 including underlay and fitting….!
