What colour to paint behind log burner? Help me with pics!

I’m having my living room redecorated Hague Blue F&B on the chimney breast wall. I have a log burner and wondered what colour people paint behind it if it’s not brick (Mike is cream fireboard that needs painting) Saw a pic on Pinterest of one that is the same colour as the walls which I quite likes. Hearth is dark grey granite so do I go dark grey? I don’t want cream really even though the other walls will be cream as it will discolour. Any help appreciated! Especially if you have pics to share!

Do you have a fire surround/mantelpiece or is the burner just recessed into the wall.

Our snug is painted in vardo and we put copper sheeting behind the wood burner. I love it.

I was going to suggest something with warmth. That copper sheeting looks amazing @gingerbubs.

I went Vardo too for the walls and with Raddichio behind the burner...

I'm about to paint my bedroom Hague blue. How about a hot pink or an orange like Charlottes locks?

We have a scrubbed brick back but if we didn't it would have all been painted black the same as the side walls. Our hearth is a dark grey slate and the alcoves either side are a deep blue, like Hague Blue but B&Q own.

Thanks for your comments. I decided to paint it the same colour as the walls and it looks fabulous!

I recommend anything in dark grey.
