What to put with dark green?

A dark forest green sofa is arriving soon, and in my head, I always pictured dark green walls (maybe not all of them), to go with the heavy dark wood furniture, maybe some form of gold tinged wallpaper on one wall.
However, Googling “dark green sofa decoration” shows plain lighter coloured walls, and now I’m doubting my ideas.
Would it be “too” green and dark? If so, what would be an alternative? Definitely want the living room to be dramatic and bold so I’m happy with wild eclectic mixes. Maybe a goldy-mustard wall instead?

I think this entirely depends on the amount of natural light in your room. I love a moody dark space, but only if the daylight through the windows can illuminate it on its own.

There’s some lovely wallpaper. Dark and lighter green plant images. Google Green and Brown wallpapers. Would look lovely with gold and/or bright pink.

Thanks all. Huge French doors, so lots of natural light, but have already got dark green curtains to make it moody and atmospheric if we need to.

The trouble with googling it, is that it seems to be either green sofa and other coloured walls, or dark green walls and then a different coloured sofa.
No one seems to have both- and I’m now wondering why!

I bought an emerald green and gold flask a couple of days ago and it is quite a dark looking colour combo. It might make your room look really small if you were to follow that colour combo throughout the whole room but it could also look really boutique.

It’s a great help, but I’m not sure dh would agree to pinks He’s already fairly at the limit of stretching past his preferred magnolia / white!

I think gold/mustard would work well OP
Perhaps some royal blue and orange cushions?

If you want to go dark, how about a rich deep aubergine colour? F and B Brinjal maybe....

Ooooh hadn’t thought about aubergine… but bingo @aNewYorker, that’s exactly what I’m thinking!!

We have a dark green velvet sofa (it's an curved one with its original Art Nouveau design fabric) in ours with F&B Olive on three walls plus a feature wall papered with a Voysey pattern in cream, gold, black and green.

The second sofa is cream linen and we have curtains in a Timorous Beasties mustard velvet with black design. The rug is a crazy eclectic mix of colours that lofts the space (imho, lol!).

Our accent colours are orange, black, gold, mustard and aubergine. We're about to make some improvements - having recently removed the wall between this room and an extension - and will be adding a wall of concealed storage that is going to be F&B Brinjal, so good shout by @Bluesheep8

In our last house we painted the living room walls Brinjal with the same sofa etc - although had lighter curtains - and loved this look....

Here's a pic of the space before we removed the far end wall (sofas now swapped position plus that pic is of our old cream sofa - new one is larger and lower 😉)

And one of the wallpaper. The green birds are an almost perfect match for the F&B Olive walls 😊

I agree with dusky pink. Or a rich ochre/saffron. Or dark turquoise green. I wouldn't do dark green walls and dark green sofa. It'll look better with some contrast.

I love rich ochre/gold (India Yellow?) with dark green.
I have F&B Olive in my sitting room which is a fantastic colour (sofa is pale gold but needs changing) plus a dark green armchair, which also looks pretty good.
Get some testers and try them out?

Definitely leaning towards a jewel goldy / auberginey / bluey now for the walls I think to contrast. Just need to persuade the DH that more than one colour is a good thing
