Help me find a paint colour!

I need to paint my living room and have no idea where to start looking for paint. My style is quite eclectic, wooden floors, big plants, patterned rug, bookshelves. I want to keep it light but still just dark enough that it's distinct from the white woodwork. Some kind of brown-grey- neutral I think. Please help! I've never decorated before so don't really know where to start choosing a paint.

Have you tried going to B&Q and getting some tester pots to see what works?

I just don't know where to start though - I feel like I need to narrow it down to a handful of colours to try testers of.

Try the Dulux visualizer app. You can put colours on your wall virtually, so you can see what suits your room before you buy

I found a lot of inspiration looking at some paint manufacturers websites and catalogues. Not the little colour swatches, but the pictures of whole rooms etc. I breed up with a bright yellow stairway like this - I’d never have thought of that myself.

I like Shaded White, Old White and Schoolhouse white - all fit your brief I think. Drop cloth also lovely. All F&B. Get them copied at Johnstone's.

Also Egyptian cotton by Dulux.

Your living room sounds very similar to mine.... I went with All White as I wanted it really simple. It's lovely.

I love a bit of colour. I think mustard or yellow ochre/ ginger colours are warm and earthy. There is a company (I forget the name) where you can get testers which are basically sheets of paper to stick in the wall. I would try a few in completely different colours and see what makes you happy! And also browse Pinterest!

Have a look at Lick or Coat paints, they do lots of these type of colours.

Coat - Sunday Soul, Well Grounded or Good Intentions are nice. Definitely get some tester because some had a Greenish hue in certain lights in real life I didn’t pick up on the website.

Lick - they have lots of colours named Beige #01 / #02, Greige #01 / #02 etc.
