Tell me about bathroom decorating

DH and decided decided to redecorate our family bathroom, only room upstairs we haven't done since moving in and it's awful.

But! We are clueless. For example, I'm looking online and thinking I'd love panelling on the walls but then do you also need tiles around the bathtub so the walls don't get wet? Would a mixture of paneling and tiles in a small-ish bathroom look weird?

If you recently redecorated your bathroom I'd live to see pictures!

Paneling is fine needs a lot of varnish to be water resistant.

Just done ours with panelling and plastered painted walls above. The bath is freestanding so the walls don't get wet. Only tiles are in the shower cubicle and the floor. Even though is white walls I think it's warmer than tiled walls

We have panelling and our bathroom is an absolute disgrace at the minute. The picture above is gorgeous and I may have to copy the whole thing

I wish I was good at home decorating. I know what I like but coming up with it from scratch is so hard! I also don't want it to clash too much with the rest of the house. It's a 60s house, doors and kitchen etc are all light oak coloured. Not sure if that matters?
