Any curtain experts around?

We need some curtains for the French doors in our loft. There is only a 10 cm gap between the top of the top of the doors and the ceiling - would a pole or track work better? Do we need something specially narrow?

You could fit either a slim pole or a track into that space.
It is hard to know what is better without a picture.
If buying a pole it is better to check the width of all the fixtures etc.

Not an expert but I think a pole would be too much there especially it if it has big knobs on the end.

I think you could manage a pole with small finials.,I see the problem as the far end, not much room to pull the curtains back but that might be an illusion.

Solid metal poles are thinner than the hollow type but I think that it depends on what curtain heading you are planning to have.

Standard pencil pleat curtains will hang equally well from a pole or track but if you opt for something other (triple/double pleat, cartridge, goblet etc) you will need a pole so that the fabric does not drag on the wall when drawn.

I think pencil pleat on a track is probably the best idea. Thanks everyone!
