In reality, how long are John Lewis taking to deliver beds?

I ordered a rug recently and they said 8 weeks delivery time but it arrived in 4 days.

Have now ordered a bed and they say 18 weeks wait.

Has anyone ordered a bed recently and got a rough idea of their current delivery times?

Thanks

Have a look at Trustpilot reviews

It's a question no-one can really answer as it depends on the actual bed ordered.

I ordered bed frames and mattresses at beginning of November which were suppose to arrive at beginning of December from Argos. They moved the delivery date and time to over a week later with 24 hours notice and no explanation. (I suspect they gave the beds to someone else.) I cancelled the order, ordered extremely similar items from JL and had them delivered within 4 days. They were all delivered by the beginning of my delivery slot.

When I was looking for beds in November JL wouldn't let me order the ones I now have as they weren't in stock.

I know the delays in furniture deliveries are due to a mixture of the impacts of Brexit and Covid. So if the bed frame or most of its components are coming from abroad then the lack of shipping containers will have a big impact. There as loads of mattresses are made in the UK so only Covid issues will have an impact on them. In my case both retailers had the mattresses in stock as they are made in the UK. I just had limited choice on bed frames.

I've seen news articles complaining about sofas and general furniture/appliance deliveries, but none complaining specifically about bed deliveries.

Thank you, trustpilot seems to be general complaining about John Lewis, not specific to beds or furniture.

The mattress has arrived from another website.

I suppose I'm trying to decide whether to buy a crappy frame from marketplace or eBay to at least get us off the floor while we wait.

A couple of weeks on the floor is fine, but 18 weeks warrants a temporary solution.

It seems that dpd deliver the bigger items and Royal Mail do the smaller stuff?

Was it coming from JL or was it a brand straight from the manufacturer, JL is sometimes just a middleman for different brands and it might be best to look on the brand website if this is the case

GranolaHolmes · 02/01/2022 22:07

It's a JL branded bed.

The frame may turn out not to be crappy and you will end up cancelling the JL one.

I've got furniture from eBay sellers in the past and it's been fine. One of the shops was local to me but I couldn't fit it in my car so found them on eBay. Some smaller retailers use eBay and Amazon to increase their sales.

Depends on the actual individual item.

My beds and mattress where delivered by JL. Beds frames were JL brand.

When I ordered a phone from JL the phone was delivered by DPD.

We ordered a JL bed in March 2021 with a long delivery time. Was due early august but then was delayed an additional couple of weeks. It had apparently been on a container ship since may!
