Stain block not hiding red wine stains on wall - help

Hi

MY DP while saving a wine glass from falling and smashing, knocked it backwards and the red wine ended up all over living room wall. It then ran down the cream wall and left wine trails. Lovely.

I put on ronseal stain block white basecoat today - twice. I was planning to repaint tomorrow but I can still see the wine stains.

What am I doing wrong? what can I do to obliterate the red wine?

You need some zinsser. The red one probably. It's expensive but it works. Try Screwfix.

Thank you.

I'll try this and hopefully it will work.

Zinnser stainblock comes in an aerosol as well, which makes it very easy to do and avoid brush marks because of multiple layers of paint building up.

I bought the aerosol but we can't get it to spray out. It seems to be jammed - even ramming it on the concrete path. failed.

I read that I should run spray bit under hot water and again no luck.

It's too late for you to try this now but when I had the same situation I found that brushing the mark with Miltons Fluid took the stain right out of the wall. Sadly it didn't work on the carpet.

I use the ordianry zissner normal paint I haven't used it on red wine but it's worked on all the other stains I've had

I had a similar thing happen a while ago, again red wine, over a cream wall, the wall was painted with standard Dulux Matt paint and the stain seeped into it straight away. We repainted with Dulux Easy Clean paint, that covered the stain completely, and as I am pretty clumsy anyway, is washable, more expensive paint but easier in the long run. Good luck.
