Hive mind needed - lid on Leisure range oven

Hello mumsnet hive mind!

I’m looking at buying a second hand Leisure range cooker, dual fuel. It has one of those glass lids with the safety cut off, which for various reasons (aesthetics, not fitting in the old chimney, cba to clean) I wouldn’t want. Does anyone know if these are removable?

Thanks!

Perhaps the ever-knowledgeable @PigletJohn might know?

you had better ask the maker

the lid usually controls a gas valve to the hob, which turns it off when closed.

it's possible that the way the valve works it is "normally off" and is only turned on when the lid is fully open. This is the safer way to build a safety interlock, and would need an alteration by a gas engineer. In this case the makers might offer a modification part.

Yes it is, I removed ours.
The fitter adjusted it so it the gas connection was not affected I cant remember how, a gas engineer could do this quite easily.
