What colour carpet

I need to replace a carpet in my small dining room. The dog ate the last one when she first came to us - rescue-
Not done it since. So had a patchy carpet for 3 years
My walls are a light grey, that looks cream in the light. Curtains are ocre.
It's a high traffic area as need to go through dining room to get to kitchen.
It's a dark room in the morning.
I really don't want a grey carpet.
I was thinking of a muddy brown colour to hide a multitude of sins

Our stairs and landings carpet is greige.... much warmer than grey but more neutral than brown.... and more forgiving than beige....it Also has a fleck

Yes as floor uneven
