desk chair on a thick rug?

DD (age 13) has a pretty tiny bedroom with a single bed & a lovely warm cosy thick rug that fills most of the floor next to her bed. She has a little desk for homework with a cheap ordinary chair, and the chair is on the rug (no other space).

I was thinking of getting her a proper desk chair, but if I get one with wheels, surely they won't move on the rug? But would a desk chair without wheels be a bit pointless?

Does anyone have experience of solutions that work? I really don't want to remove the rug which she loves, and the tiny room does not allow for any other furniture / rug configurations.

I would say if moving the normal chair is hard - replace it - but don't get a huge desk chair with wheels if it is too heavy to move. DH has one and is quite heavy ( even with wheels ) but he can do it. I would say the more important thing is to get a chair where if you are at your desk is the right height and a decent back support & if you can do that with wheels on a rug that might work . But I would go for a lighter one she can move with wheels. Or just adjustable height . I do think ( & I have the nerve damage to prove it ) the right height for the desk is important & decent back support .Sometimes a spare dining chair doesn't cut it. ( or just cushions on the chair can work . )

Probably not too helpful but we have had similar

Oh and just to say DH could manoeuvre chair on rug. I think if DD can put feet on floor with a lighter chair she may be able to do it. ( depends on rug - if flat weave I think OK - if shaggy rug - may be more difficult

Thanks. She is not exactly sitting there for hours everyday doing homework, but I want a chair that works well enough that she uses it. at the moment, she does most homework sitting in her bed which can't be good for her back.

Office/desk chairs are large. For the amount she will use it , I'd ho for a small lighter chair that won't dominate the room. You can get some funky looking ones rather than office like
