Hello!

I am looking to order some new furniture from Next. Have bought other things from the home section before and love it all, but never sofas or chairs.

Are they good quality? More concerned with the comfort and durability of the seats since with sofa specialists like DFS, you get options to choose what comfort you would like, but I don't think Next do that.

I've got my eye on the Wilson sofa in grey antique velvet (small chaise) and the Sherlock armchair in nevis grey with matching footstool. Our new living room is very small and cosy and hopefully these will be the perfect size and look good together.

Any information at all would be great. Thank you Grin

No idea about the sofa you mention but I'm sitting on a Next sofa made in 2012 right now, got it second hand 4 years ago in pristine condition and its put up well with my now 11 and 8yo children. It's still in pretty good nick.

My parents had an armchair from Next which looked amazing but it gave everyone an aching bottom so they got rid of it, we are looking at sofas from Next and they're the best looking ones we have seen so following this post to see people's experiences.

Can I just say sofa shopping is SO difficult!

I’ve got the Wilson three seater. It’s four years old and going strong and I have two boisterous boys who insist on lying on the back rest. I’ve not had any issues but it is quite low (MIL finds it difficult to get up from)

We have the Gosford range in antique velvet from next, had them 6 years with a dog, cat and baby and they still look like new. We also have a wingback armchair we got the year before the sofa and again, still looks like new and everything is incredibly comfortable plus their customer service and aftercare is fantastic.

Thanks for all your replies, very helpful!

I actually went to Next last night to try some out, and they do look wonderful and you can tell the material is great quality. However some of them were a lot more comfortable than others. I even tried different sizes of the Sherlock armchair, and some were incredibly comfy but others were so firm and hard, even though they’re the same types of chair!

I don’t know whether to chance it - I’m sure they will wear in but it’s a very scary thought if we don’t end up liking them and have to change them!

I have the Farrell (now discontinued) in the tweedy blend fabric. It's bobbled really badly and the base cushions creep forward. I won't be getting another from them.

Ours is a Next Hampshire, bought it in the clearance for about £450 a couple of years ago, seems fine and I would buy another from Next,
