Large rugs

I need a rug about 3.5m x 2.5m to do under our dining table. I was looking for something contemporary, currently have the black and white IKEA Stockholm which I really like, but unfortunately it’s stretched where the chairs moved. Most places seem to offer a max of 2.4x1.7. Does anyone know some websites with a good selection of larger rugs?

I like the look of Ruggable. A nice selection of designs and sizes and they’re even washable!

The stockholm might get back into shape if you get it cleaned

I second Dunelm, lots of choice for larger rugs.

@Lunaballoon I was mildly considering getting a rug once I have my new wood floor fitted ( next year )
I now want 6 and I have only got about a quarter of the way through their catalogue ShockBlush ha ha

Those Ruggable rugs look fantastic.

Thanks so much for your help, I hadn’t thought of Dunelm, and have ordered the large grey wool pebble rug, which looks very scandi, looking forward to it arriving!

Wayfair

www.rugsdirect.co.uk/rugs/large/

www.therugseller.co.uk/

Also look at your local FB marketplace and eBay for oversized rugs.

Anyone wondering about Ruggable, we've just had one.

My thoughts:

  • Generally, very happy, though not actually washed it yet!
  • Was slightly tricky getting the two layers to line up, I got there in the end but prepare to swear at it a bit.
  • They aren't thick, plushy rugs, they're pretty flat. The more padded bottom layer might make a difference (we just have the standard one) but ultimately the pile is very short. I knew this and wasn't expecting any different, but it's worth being explicit.
  • Delivery took ages. They're based in California and they are all made to order. Mine took 4 weeks to be made and dispatched, then another 2 weeks for delivery (though that was mostly because DHL lost it at Charles de Gaulle airport for a week)

I would definitely order another one, but the very biggest ones need a very big washing machine, so do be careful on that one!

big rugs are difficult to find imo. West elm have some if you want to buy new; I've ended up going for a mix of antique / vintage from auction houses or ebay

@anatara Let us know how the pebble rug goes. I am really tempted by one but some of the review were very poor.

I'm looking at a custom made one by Knotistry - it can be a similar price to a stock ruck from Wayfair/Dunelme depending on what you choose as the body of the rug

LittleWingSoul · 06/12/2021 21:03

@anatara I had the pebble rug for a good 6 years and it withstood toddlers and spills and hid any stains very well! Recommended Smile

Go to a carpet shop and get a piece cut in the size you want and ask if they do binding- if not take it somewhere that does.

OpalDeer · 19/03/2025 09:09

I like the designs and quality of Shaggy Rugs LTD

AlCalavicci · 19/03/2025 11:51

I think @anatara , got the rug s/he wanted several years ago 😆.
Easy mistake to make tho .
