Can you paint acrylic splashbacks?

We're just about to complete on a house with eye watering lime green acrylic splashback in the kitchen. The whole kitchen was replaced last year and is otherwise very modern, glossy, sleek looking.

So my question is, how can we change the splashback without removing it? Can we paint it with special paint? Cover with those sticker tiles? Nail some wood planks and paint?

We've always lived in rented, so we're not used to having options like this :)

Tile over it or have a layer of quartz of your choice cut to fit.

Consider living with it for a month, in case you grow to like it!
