sofa bed question

has anyone bought a sofa bed and put their own mattress on? I want to buy a new sofa bed and if the mattress is not as good as my current sofa bed mattres can I swap them if they are both the same size? The shop said I cannot do that because the bed as a 10 year guarantee and if I use a different mattress to the one that goes with the bed then I will lose the guarantee

As long as they are the same size I can't see why not? And not sure how using a different mattress would lose the guarantee for the folding mechanism. Apart from anything else, as long as you keep the new one somewhere, how would they ever know what you've been using to sleep on?
