Bedding and curtains matching or not?

I cent work out to make curtains and bedding work together without getting them in the same fabric! Or is better to have plain curtains?

I’m redecorating our bedroom, we’ve painted the walls pale blue and divan and headboard are navy.

I’m not sure what to do with the curtains and bedding though. I’ve been looking at blues but worried it will make it too cold.

I have a blue, white, grey and mustard yellow bedroom. One wall is dark blue (F&B Stiffkey blue), the others are a warm white. Pictures on the walls are nature themed, oceans and flowers. Curtain is dark blue. I have a light grey chair with a mustard yellow cushion, and I rotate my bedding, but it's always mostly yellow with blue or white accents. I wouldn't want matching curtains and bedding.

My bedroom curtains are a sort of plain lapis lazuli blue, walls Dulux Heritage Clear Skies. Headboard is cream leather, bedding pale blue and white stripes, carpet mid-grey. I have a few bright yellow accents. It faces north and doesn't look cold at all.

I would look at striped fabric for the curtains, in navy, pale blue, white and a warmer or even hot colour.

My pillowcases rarely match the duvet cover. So I couldn't care less about matching curtains.

I have three duvet sets I rotate. They are all quite different colours and patterns so no chance of matching them to the curtains. I think matched looks pretty naff really.

I wouldn’t go with matching either. Have you seen Hyacinth Bucket’s bedroom, matching bedding, curtains and wallpaper? It’s all a bit too much.

I have plain blush pink curtains and own several different bedspreads that I like to change occasionally to change the look of the room. I would go for good quality plain curtains then you can your bedding on a whim.

Definitely don't match.
Use a complimentary or contrasting colour or it will be too much blue.

Grey and white look restful with blues and needn't look cold if you have lots of texture.

We've always done patterned bedding plain curtains or patterned curtains plain bedding.
