Would you put a Roman blind on a patio/French door?

I’ve currently got curtains but they are very heavy and dull looking so need something fresher that will lighten the room. Also something that is easy to block out glare from the sun. I love Roman blinds but would a large one going across the full width of the doors look strange?

I didn't post yesterday as i didn't want two negative posts in a row. But yes, I do think it would look strange ans also pretty impractical in terms of functionality of doors and blind.
How about unlined linen curtains in a neutral colour or white?

What are the doors made of? Could you fit something like a Perfect Fit blind into the frame? We have similar on our bifolds, and they are brilliant.

Yes I think it would look strange

I’m not sure about Roman blinds but we have a simple roller blind that goes across our French doors. It works fine. It isn’t as good as fitting two blinds, one per door, of course, but this way was cheaper and much easier to fit. It also means it blends in with the wall much better - it’s the same colour - and is less “bitty”. It is more of a pain getting in and out when the blind is completely lowered, though, but it’s fine.

We have roller blinds on our patio doors also. They work well.

We have curtains! We did have lightweight sheer ones first, but they got very dirty at the bottom (and didn’t keep the full afternoon sun out) so then got light grey lined ones made. They are much better. I wouldn’t have a Roman blind, as you’d have to keep raising it to get in and out, plus they are very full when raised up.

I've got 2 narrow roman blinds over the patio door - not massively thick ones so don't look too bulky when all the way up. Also can use each individually depending on where the sun is, so not blocking out all the light when not necessary.

No. I would use glass that’s hard to see through instead.

Perfect fit blinds!

We did this, but they were semi-fake. Ones that would drop to the floor would have been too heavy so we had ones made that came down just enough to block the sun (south east facing).

Going to have the same again in our next house.

We used ‘blinds 2 go’ real silk. Will use again

We have a Roman blind at the double door to the garden. We used to gave curtains but they just flapped about and got mucky from the dog and generally got on my nerves.

Another vote for Perfect Fit!

I have a Roman blind on French windows. It’s hung close to the ceiling so that when it’s fully up it doesn’t hang over the doors at all, so no impediment to going in and out. It’s linen so it folds up relatively flat. I don’t think it would work as well in a heavier fabric.
