What paint colour goes with this carpet?

This carpet is on the stairs, landing and bedrooms. One bedroom is dark green walls and pink bedding and the carpet looks great with it.

What colour would look good to paint the stairs wall, hallway, landing and other bedroom? There are white bannisters and white under stairs cupboards. Same colour throughout but I don’t know what to go with - any ideas please?

I'd go with duck egg. Always looks great against white woodwork, is nice and fresh, and would go fine with the carpet.

That’s the one colour I’ve sampled! Grin. Maybe I need a slightly different shade of duck egg as this looks odd.

Hmm that's more grey than blue.

It’s not right is it. Crown DuckEgg

I'd go for a warm but light tone myself to balance out the cold black carpet tone.

But I live where it's cold most of the year so like a warm interior feel!

I find deep creams can be quite classy. I've attached some colours that in real life do look cream rather than actual orange as it looks on screen.

Some duck egg is closer to grey than blue/green. Often it can be quite dark too. You'd need to chose your type carefully you don't want to end up with black carpet and grey walls....

Biscuit

The critical thing is that it's a warm tone, otherwise it's going to feel complete sterile.

Tallow by F&B would work - a soft neutral with lovely warmth.

Blue

I have a similar colour carpet upstairs. IN dd's room we have it with Dulux Tranquil Dawn (looks great) in ds's music room with Stone Blue (looks ok but I wouldn't choose it again) and in ds's bedroom with a very light silvery grey paint (don't know the colour as it was on when we moved in. That looks really nice.

JaninaDuszejko · 01/11/2021 16:05

We have a similar carpet in our playroom. The walls are pure brilliant white but we have an orange sofa and being a playroom there are lots of colourful toys and it's west facing so gets the afternoon sun. The previous owners had walls that were a warm beige which was OK but not to my taste (plus a hideous feature wall covered with black patterned wallpaper).

pizzaobsessed · 01/11/2021 16:07

We've got a very similar coloured carpet and have used F&B Skimming Stone on the walls.

knittingaddict · 01/11/2021 16:14

I would go for a warm neutral. Maybe taupe or stone.

RedCake · 01/11/2021 18:03

Thanks everyone! Good suggestions, especially to keep it warm as the landing, bedrooms and stairs are all on the left of the house north facing.

Here is the difficulty. Everyone in our house is agreed that the feel and price of this range of carpet is a goer. 3 out of 5 choose the black carpet, 1 was not bothered and I am the outsider as I liked the attached colour. Everyone choose independently and wrote their choice down so that we didn’t influence each other (regretting that now!).

What colour would you go for out of the attached range?

@Comefromaway I really like tranquil Dawn, thanks for that tip.

I'd go for the dark colour. With kids/pets/visitors/accidents, that's just too pale a carpet to last any considerable amount of time, ime.

AdelindSchade · 01/11/2021 18:53

I agree with warm neutrasl. Nothing blue or grey it will be too cold. Blush goes well with black for a bedroom perhaps.

RedCake · 01/11/2021 18:58

@pizzaobsessed we do have pets. We also slop tea upstairs (always tea that seems to escape the mug).

So consensus is warm colours, no blue no grey. I might have another go at a non grey duck egg

We colour-matched to Crown as we'd heard F&B's a bit hit and miss and our decorator said it's naff to work with. Just in case that helps. Think Johnstone's (sp?) do a good matching service too
RedCake · 01/11/2021 19:34

Thanks @pizzaobsessed that duckegg was Crown and called Duck Egg.

I too can recommend Johnson’s colour match.
