Help me design my bedroom!

I’ve just moved house and everything needs decorating. Our bedroom is not going to be the first, but we’re having some wardrobes fitted at the end of Nov so want to carpet and paint behind where there’ll be before they get there.

I know what style I want - I call it vintage Miami boho Grin - initially thinking pinks and blue-greens, kind of inspired by the famous Hockney painting.

I don’t know what flooring to go for - I’d prefer carpet for warmth - but unsure of colour. Wall colours I have two versions but I’m not sure which one to go for, so just looking for some more opinions. Husband is leaving design completely down to me.

Attached are Lick paint samples (I might not go with Lick but the colours are what I like) and some inspiration pics.

Throw your thoughts at me! I’m a fan of colour so I’m afraid any “I like my bedroom completely white and calming” probably won’t be implemented GrinWink

(The mood board isn’t mine btw I pinched it off Pinterest)

I would go for wood/laminate and a cosy rug or two. Much easier to maintain over time, as well as change up if bored or you redecorate.

Oh, and definitely incorporate real houseplants. Ive recently fallen in love with houseplants and have them everywhere, bedroom included. They make a house a home!

Bobsyer · 30/10/2021 21:40

@MyButteredBread I think I’m going to go for real cactuses and some fake other plants because my god, plants commit suicide around me Grin

(But otherwise I agree with you!)

I kinda have a similar colour scheme but different theme. I have pale grey walls (done 9 yrs ago!) & wooden flooring with a big rig that has pale pink & sage green in. I have a seascape picture above my bed & green table lamps & a pink glass chandelier The chandelier probably sounds awful but it's beautiful.

carpetbugs · 30/10/2021 21:49

i don't think i have a theme tbh

Love this look! It's going to be fab. One thing to check - what direction your room faces, it can change the feel of colours so it may make you go for a warmer pink etc. Can find advice online pertaining to directions!

(I'm sobbing with my north facing dark bedroom 😭)

Also for floors, I would probably go for a lightish wood and then have some funky carpets that match the colour scheme. Made have quite a lot of fun boho stuff that would fit this style. I've also seen it described as retro / Art deco.

If you haven't seen it, motel makeover has some rooms done in this style that may inspire you!

This is great thanks!

@carpetbugs I want pink glass lighting Grin and had found exactly what I wanted - nothing too special, this IKEA wall lamp. I held off buying them because we were moving and it seemed a bit dangerous to buy glass right before a move - and I shit you not, in the three weeks between me seeing them and us moving, the pink ones are now discontinued, to the point where I’m doubting I even saw them. I can’t find any reference to them online Confused

@JaffacakeJanine I am in LOVE with the Made style! I was actually thinking with the pink and green paints that this dressing table would be nice.

I get what you’re saying about what direction the room faces, I’d better check that! Love that pic by the way - I’ve pinned quite a lot of those with the colour blocked painting.

Those lights would be amazing in pink, how annoying!

I was very lucky to get mine in a French charity shop

I've just read a thread about buying second hand - I so very rarely find anything I like second hand, and I have no patience to wait when there are things I like for a price I can afford brand new. eBay is the actual WORST I never find anything I like!

I also kind of want this lamp - not sure if it's a bit too Miami Vice though Grin

Love both dresser and light! Do it do it
