Taking hallway carpets up

I live in a 3 bed semi. We have ugly carpets downstairs and would love to take them up (in the hallway, lounge, diner and on the stairs). Does anyone know roughly how much this will cost and what our options are for underneath depending on the state of the floorboards? Thanks

If you go book the local carpet shop to come and measure up, they can advise on price and options.
I paid £5k for mine but included 1 bedroom and landing as well.

Thanks so much @altiara. We'll do that. I quite like the idea of having wooden floorboards or tiles or something that looks like either of those.

It depends what sub floor you have underneath.
My upstairs was carpeted a few years ago but needed plywood lining underneath which cost an extra £1500 on top of carpet costs but my downstairs has concrete floors so could be tiled without levelling.
As Altaria said a good start will be getting measured up so you have an idea of the square meterage.
