Living Room Help

Moved recently and at the moment this is just not a lovely living Room and I'm just clueless. If this was your living room what does it need? What would you do? I've chosen not to put a tv on the chimney wall. Pics attached many thanks.

The colours are awful..if you're stuck with the grey carpets you need to lose all the other grey. Colourful art on the wall, full length curtains in one block colour, get rid of the wallpaper on the chimney. Maybe paint the back of the alcoves in a colour and carefully curate the shelves in front. No chrome.

A few plants would help to perk it up

Paint whole room one consistent colour (warmish but light blue, palest gold, deep green) and lose the feature wall.
2-3 houseplants of various sizes
Fabric sofas
Blankets to match wall colour
Area rug to match wall if carpet not being replaced
Mirror (almost full width of chimney breast) above fireplace
Tall lamps in corner of room

I’d rearrange the sofas into an L-shape or opposite ends of the room.

I’d change the feature wall.

It badly needs some colour in the form of cushions and a rug, and I'd change the curtains.

If it were my living room that wallpaper would be gone but that's because I dislike feature walls.

Well it's basically an utterly depressing griege everywhere. And the wallpaper is horrible. There isn't much to like.

Get rid of that wallpaper. Rearrange furniture into l- shape.
Replace the 90s tv stand. Couple of plants.

I'd also move the unit from in front of the chimney breast As it's sticking too far into the room
