Moving freezer into the dining room - floor?

So we would love to move the undercounter freezer from the garage into the dining room (no room in the kitchen as its the size of a canal boat and has just an undercounter fridge as it is).

The dining room has the original Victorian exposed floorboards that are a bit gappy, for water and protection what would you put underneath, how far out would you extend that flooring and what else should I be thinking about?

It would be in the alcove nearest the kitchen with a worktop and larder cupboard above.

Can you buy a giant tile that fits under it?

I would probably buy a piece of vinyl flooring to put underneath

Thanks - sorry for lack of response, we were away for half term. Yes I think we will do that, it might look a bit dodgy but probably safest.
