John Lewis for me, I have some gorgeous white bedding from there that’s lasted really well, I think the style is called antique? For a duvet, especially at this time of year, you can’t beat a decent down one, though we switched to wool over summer but I just need that extra snuggle factor when the weather turns cold. Tk Maxx would be a good bet for that.

One of my sets is cream although there is white in the range - it's from Dunelm and is something Hotel I think. It was reasonably priced and washes really well and feels v nice.

I love the next waffle stripe bedding. It’s thick and washed really nicely. Am trying to stop myself buying another set!

Habitat washed cotton is great and doesn’t need ironing: www.habitat.co.uk/product/8761781

Dusk do amazing bedding. Sale at the moment too!

My mum got me some from Dunelm (we live overseas) it’s 1000 thread count and weighs a ton. We’ve had it a couple of years and it still looks great. Mum liked it so much she got herself some but her washing machine can’t spin the super king duvet cover.

There is a brand called Pizuna that does 800/600/400tc long staple cotton bedding, available on evil Amazon. All bedding in my house is white and by Pizuna, the quality is gorgeous, that combination of smooth and soft. Duvet cover sets are between £40 - £55 for doubles and kings.

Can't recommend enough.

I love la redoute bedding. 100% cotton and not too expensive. Habitat not bad either. White company/John Lewis/House of Fraser (maybe still? Not sure) good for more expensive stuff.

badgerread · 13/10/2021 20:40

King of Cotton. Hotel quality linen that actually stays white!

Subbaxeo · 15/10/2021 16:22

Tesco Fox and Ivy. Also their towels are the dogs bollocks. Recommended in a newspaper column and haven’t found better value anywhere.

I've fairly recently bought 400 thread count pillowcases from John Lewis and they are lovely. When I needed to replace the duvet cover not long afterwards, I struggled to find a 400tc one that wasn't a) nearly £100 and b) unnecessarily embellished with an Oxford edge which would always look shit because who irons a duvet cover?

Found a company called Rise & Fall who make simple, eco-friendly white bedlinen at sensible prices. No silly edging. Absolutely lovely quality, couldn't be happier. And they give you a choice of UK of EU sizes, which is very handy and means I finally have the right sized cover for my UK superking duvet (unlike the Habitat one it replaced). Highly recommend.

I’ve spent a fortune on white company and it’s terrible. Dusk 800 thread count is fantastic

I'm sticking with linen rather than cotton these days, less demanding of ironing to look good. So if that works for you, there's John Lewis, Heal's, La Redoute, Habitat and Zara Home. Those are ones that I have used, and all good; but there are so many now. All of the ones I mentioned have fairly frequent sales with decent reductions.

TangoTarantella · 21/10/2021 18:46

Dip&Doze stuff is very good quality but pricey

goldpendant · 21/10/2021 19:03

I love dip and doze too

cormorantes · 21/10/2021 19:10

Homesense has some really good, heavily discounted bed linen. I got excellent quality white sheets there recently for a bargain price.

Lampzade · 29/11/2021 14:46

Dusk, John Lewis, White Company

Lowlifeinhighplaces · 29/11/2021 15:31

Sent White companys bedding back, terrible for the price, have a look at Dusk and have found some great ones in TKmaxx

Tulipomania · 30/11/2021 14:03

Please buy organic cotton if you can afford it. Better for the environment and usually better quality too.

John Lewis usually has reasonably priced organic cotton, Dip & Doze is also good.
