Sofa advice

Bit of a boring one I'm afraid but would appreciate any advice/recommendations on sofas which can withstand the mess of a 1 and 4 year old and a cat. I'm predicting food stains, felt tips etc just general mucky hands. Would really like not to have to get it professionally cleaned every couple of months so looking for a hard wearing fabric. Has anyone bought anything that they think is a good buy for a family with young kids?

Don't have kids, but I do have a cat who ruined our last DFS sofas. We recently got an IKEA one and it's been great. It has washable covers, and seems really resistant to our cat scratching it, I think because the material is quite thick and tightly woven.

We have a dark leather sofa that we're going to hang onto until the kids are old enough not to put sticky hands etc all over.

Had a leather sofa for 16 years, completely kid proof and cat didn’t scratch it.
Now kids are older and ex has custody of the leather sofa, I bought a fabric one. Not going to lie, am scared of us dropping stuff on it!
